Mass Central GP-38 update to TS2009 standards (2/13). A photo of the prototype has been embeded in the asset's parent folder. Original description from orginal 5/04 release is as follows, however the railroad now appears to be either moth-balled or have become dedicated to a specific entity as of this writing:
The Massachusetts Central Railroad is a 25 mile shortline which has operated weekdays between Palmer and South Barre, Massachusetts, USA since 1975. The lines were originally layed down by the Boston and Albany. In keeping with the times, the road markets itself as an 'intermodal shortline' that interchanges with the Class 1's CN and CSX (Boston Subdivision) as well as the New England Central Railroad. With its old-style quaintness and Class 1 interchanges (particularly the CSX yard at Palmer), The Mass Central lends itself to be a great little shortline for the Trainz modeler. This is a representation of their best diesel, 4243, an old GP-38, in the road's newer striking black and orange scheme adopted in the 1990s. Perhaps this paint scheme was adopted to match the success of a neighboring shortline, the Providence and Worcester RR, as it bears similarity to the red and black P&W road engines. The other Mass Central diesel has a completely different paint scheme. The Mass Central makes its home just west of the Palmer diamond crossing, where it boasts an intermodal facility. Typical operations involve crossing to the CSX yard on the east side of the diamond, then switching back to take a cutoff leading to the north end of the Palmer diamond, where most of the line's trackage resides.
