A ship lock based on the Soo Great Lakes locks. It is designed to raise large ore carriers from one water level to another. It operates as a transfer table, with operating gates, and rising water level. It lifts ships 6 metres in a single lift. The lock is 32 metres wide and 260 metres long, long enough for the Edmund Fitzgerald ore carier.
The lock operates using the turntable arrows, drive into the lock, one click will close the gates and make the lock fill, to the higher level. When the gates open, drive out of the lock. Click on the arrows when looking sideways at the lock, for ease of operation. The Move Turntable rule under AI will be useful to operate the lock in TRS2006. See my webpages for details.
The rising water is a textured plane, water5.tga, replace this texture with your own if you want to match a particular water colour in Trainz. The lock snaps to the grid when placed, so the gates align with a grid line. Place water to finish at the gates and adjust the upstream and downstream levels to suit the up or down positions of the water level in the dock. You should use the get spline height tool to find the height of the attachment points and set the attached track to those levels.
A model of the Soo Lock control building is also available to complete the lock. Place two locks next to each other with the building in between.
