Chicken Neck Foundry presents a airslide hopper. Looking more like a boxcar than a hopper, airslides where first introduced in 1954 by General American Transporation Corporation. They feature a finely perforated interior fabric lining. The powdered or granulated load of usually flour or sugar is effectively liquified as it is forced out of the car under high air pressure via hose connections. It is also used to carry grains and other fine products. This later 48 ft model hopper's top hatches open and close with load and unload sounds and additional dust clouds at facilities like woodchips and LARS interactive industries. While usually dust free, this car also bellows clouds of it from under the bays as the hopper unloads.
