Delaware & Hudson received 40 GP39-2's in the 1976 creation of Conrail. Twenty were from a USRA loan and numbered 7601-7620. The other twenty were ex-RDG 3401-3420, and were numbered 7401-7420 by D&H. Since these units had been financed by C&O (through B&O's part control of Reading), CSX eventually got them back in the 1990's.
