Telltails are use to warn RR workers walking on top of cars that they are approaching a low overhead clearance. A basic telltail had heavy rop section hanging from a arm that brushed a breakman as the walked the cars. Safety rules required that Telltails are to be positioned 1000 feet before the clearance. This object is based upon a feature in a recient issue of Model Railroader.
