Charrington, Gardner Lockett & Co were the oldest firm in the London coal trade. In 1930 it had almost 3000 wagons which could be seen almost anywhere. This model is a standard RCH 1923 7 Plank wagon (16ft 6ins x 8ft 0ins x 4ft 4ins) with side, end, bottom and top doors.
Note that after 1940 PO wagons were repaired using unpainted planks and would
not have been seen in this condition in the 1950s and 1960s.
