The Flathead Tunnel is a 7 mile railroad tunnel in the Rocky Mountains approximately 42 miles west of Whitefish, Montana. It is the second longest tunnel in the United States and the seventh longest railroad tunnel in the world.
The construction of Libby Dam required the relocation of 60 miles of the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks and the building of a new tunnel which opened in 1970. Speed through the tunnel is approximately 50 mph.
The East Portal houses the air cleaning fans and has a door that closes the tunnel off to allow the tunnel to be flushed.
To use this tunnel entramce. set it in front of any tunnel and use a short piece of track to connect it to the tunnel. Then get the Tunnel Flathead Cover, located in Trackside Mode items and place it over the short piece of track you just used to connect the tunnel entrance to the tunnel.
