This is a faithful replica of the former Coal Stage that once provided the Locomotive Coaling facilities for the Locomotive Depot located at Cressy, in western Victoria, where the lines from Gheringhap to Maroona and Colac to Ballarat converged, forming a four-way junction. The Coal Stage is built to the second (in terms of highest capacity) 'standard' design of four such VR Coal Stage designs, which were not of the usual 'hopper' design (of which there were only two such designs ever used by the VR). This design involved the manual transfer of coal, horizontally, from a supply out of standard rail vehicles, on an elevated track on one side of the stage, via especially designed moving hoppers (on rails), across the stage to the waiting tenders of locomotives 'parked' on a lower (ground level) track, the contents of the hopper would then be emptied into the tenders by force of gravity. Although it is based on a specific prototype, this Coal Stage is perfectly suitable for use on any Victorian Railways themed route where a relatively large (170 feet /52 meters long) Coal Stage of this type (capable of servicing four locomotives simultaneously) would 'fit the bill'. When placed, the model is pre-supplied with suitable track to VR Broad Gauge standards (5 Ft 3 In/1600mm) on both sides of the stage for which, it should be noted, in common with such installations, a typical VR ashpit has been provided on the lower level. The supplied track will adapt to any track attached to it, except for the track along the Ashpit (which has the ''useadjoiningtracktype'' tag 'set, so that it remains a rail only type), although correct clearance between any vehicles placed by the loading platform cannot be guaranteed if any other gauge of track is used. Please note, this 'model' is ''fully Interactive'', provided with a modified built-in script and animation, sound and 'smoke' effects applied to the loading/unloading bins to allow it to take coal in from the supply vehicle track and to provide proper coaling to fill the tenders of any locomotives so scripted and to also supply water to those same locomotives, so that a 'static' trackside VR type Water Crane may be located alongside the Coal Stage (which was also common VR practise). This animation will activate automatically, if the tender of such a locomotive is 'placed' ''beneath'' any one of the three hoppers that are animated. I am indebted to S301 (Zec Murphy) for the assistance he has provided with the animation on this model (without that help, the animation would not exist). The asset is intended for use in Trainz version TS2009 or later.
