In 1959, GM introduced a new line of buses branded the New Look whereupon the previous line became known as the Old Look. Approximately 38,000 of these transit buses were built from 1940 to 1969. They were available in lengths ranging from 25 feet (7.6 m) to 41 feet 6 inches (12.65 m). Gas or diesel engines could be ordered, along with manual or automatic transmissions. The bus used a monocoque design instead of a body-on-frame.
