1911 Christie Fire Truck. MFg by J. Walter Christie. Powered by a standard T-head 4 cylinder, hand crank start, gasoline engine. Driving a twin planetary gear front wheel drive system. Steam boiler can produce enough pressure to pump 1000gpm of water through the hoses. The rear end is standard La France type wagon frame, with the front half being the Christie drive unit that could be bolted onto the wagon frame. A compromise design allowing fire depts to upgrade to more reliable, and faster gasoline engines, without having to buy a new rig with the then VERY expensive boiler/pump/hoses systems
