A rare whistle specimen, the six chimes used by the famous 4-8-2 Mohawks and 4-6-4 Hudsons of the New York Central railroad were shop-built copies of the standard Nathan design. One was once on D&RGW K-37 497 when she was operating on the Durango & Silverton line in the late 1980's. The whistle was last used on K-36 482 in 1992 before it was stolen a year later.
