Not only did the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific use the Star Brass 5 chime, the Western Maryland also used them. Some of the smaller classes of steam had the 5 chime, and the I2's and H9's were delivered with them fitted stock, but were very soon replaced with long-belled steamboat 3 chimes manufactured by Hancock Inspirator and Nathan.
