Not only did the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific use the Star Brass 5 chime, the Western Maryland also used them. Some of the smaller classes of steam had the 5 chime, and the I2's and H9's were delivered with them fitted stock, but were very soon replaced with long-belled steamboat 3 chimes manufactured by Hancock Inspirator and Nathan. This was recorded from a replica whistle that was used on WMSR 734. This is a three-part hornsound. Press the horn key for a short blast or hold it for a long blast.
