This is a scale representation of the former Michigan Central / Penn Central / Conrail West Detroit Tower located in Detroit, Michigan up until it was torn down around 1990.
This was a busy interlocking with six east / west tracks, one GTW / N&W main crossing the E/W tracks, and then another double track main of Conrail going north through the plant with six slip switches, among other switches controlling the paths of trains.
This tower has been removed and the junctions are now greatly simplified with no slip switches and only two tracks forming a junction.
This tower was measured with a combination of old aerial photos overlayed onto google earth for accurate measurements of 20ft x 40ft. Photos used to guide me in window placement and roof style.
There will be a generic version of this interlocking tower also with out any West Detroit signs on it.
