High accuracy and detail model of the Ouse Valley viaduct, often known as 'Balcombe Viaduct, on the main London - Brighton line between Haywards Heath and Balcombe. This has been described as 'probably the most elegant viaduct in Britain'.
Designed by John Rastrick, the LBSCR's engineer, working with its architect David Mocatta, and completed in 1841, it stands 96ft tall and comprises 37 jack arches each of 30ft span. This model is splined, and is slightly simplified for the simulator in that the piercings through the piers do not diminish in size towards the ends as they do in the real thing.
