A Sentinel steam lorry of the 1930s. The model has been made using a Lineside Lorries plan by J T Hill, published by Modelcraft in the late 1950s.
These plans comprised exact size drawings of every part needed to make a well detailed road vehicle, using materials available at the time - card, stripwood, straightened paper clips, even the transparent packaging used around new shirts. The tools needed were also simple - basically just a penknife. I bought a number of these plans and made several of the vehicles, which also included buses and vans.
This is offered as a simple model which is perhaps best suited to a virtual model railway layout set in the 1960s.
