WHR RAN TRB Rannoch The Renton Boulder
The crossing of Rannoch Moor proved almost ruinously expensive for the builders of the WHR, and but for the intervention of Mr James Renton, who donated much of his fortune to enable the work to continue, the project would have foundered. As a mark of their gratitude, the navvies working on the line made and erected this memorial stone in his honour.
