This is based in the tower which protected the cossing of the Joliet & Eastern Railway
and the Milwaukee Road at Spaulding (near Elgin). It was built sometime around 1890 when
the EJ&E extended its trackage north toward Waukegan. As built it was around 12 by 12 ft
but was enlarged to its present size in 1909 when the Milwarkee Road double tracked its
main line. It now exists at the Illinois Railway Museum and has been restored to its 1909
appearence. Included nightmode.
