This 3 ft gauge span is based on the Pleasant Valley Creek Bridge on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad
nine miles out of Ridgeway below Dallas Divide. The entire span is on an uncompensated 4% grade. Speeds were limited to
6 MPH. It was replaced in 1908 by a newer span several hundred yards further up the valley and scrapped in 1914. The
ground elevation under the span varied considerably and the creek was about 110 ft below the bottom of the Howe Truss.
