These four-wheeled third class passenger cars were purchased in 1887 by the Grandducal Baden State Railways for service on rural branch lines. Unlike main line passenger compartment cars, they had platforms on both ends and a cente aisle running the length of the car. Night time lighting was provided by gas light. They were fitted with Westinghouse air brakes.
