You can see a demo of this lighthouse here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW2_2pneHG8&t=22s)

The Price's Creek Front Range Lighthouse is an abandoned, dilapidated, Civil War-era brick lighthouse located in Southport, North Carolina on the East Coast of the United States. Range lighthouses are used to mark a straight path. There is a small lighthouse (the front range light) in front of a taller lighthouse (the rear range light). When you can draw a straight verticle line between the two lights, your ship is properly aligned for safe passage through a waterway. The Price's Creek Range Lights were two of many lighthouses the Confederate government funded to help guide ships to the then-booming port of Wilmington, North Carolina.
During the American Civil War, the Price's Creek Rear Range Light was used as a signal station to aid communication between Fort Caswell and Fort Fisher. Meanwhile, the front range light was used to guide Confederate blockade runners past Union ships stationed offshore. The lighthouse received heavy shell damage from guns being fired from Fort Caswell. Eventually, the Union gained full control of the coast, forcing the Confederats to retreat inland. As usual, rather than allowing the enemy to use their lighthouses, they burned down every single lighthouse on the Cape Fear River. The Price's Creek Range Lights are the only ones that survided the burning, but were in a horrible state afterwards.
None of the Cape Fear River lighthouses were rebuilt, because the port of Wilmington wasn't as viable as it once was. Several storms destroyed the Price's Creek Rear Range Lighthouse, and it was demolished, its bricks being hauled away by locals for their own personal projects. The Price's Creek Front Range Light still stands, but is not open to the public. It is not considered safe to visit. The son of a previous keeper tried to visit the lighthouse, but the rotten staircase collapsed underneath him and he fell to his death.
The lighthouse is located on land that is privately owned by the Archer Daniels Midland Citris Acid Plant. Sadly they have no plans to restore the lighthouse. The windows and some of the stairway still remain, but the lantern was removed long ago. There's no telling how much longer it'll last.
