This asset requires the 1460/1502 pack from Pikkarail http://www.pikkarail.com/trainz/index.htm .
Tranz Rail QR class, one of three units that operated in Tasmania. The QRs were former QR 1460/1502 class and some spent time in New Zealand as well as Tasmania. There were 25 QR class with 15 converted to DQ class.

This is the TransRail unit that operated in Tasmania, numbers are 2062, 2056 and 2102. While this is the Tasmanian version, it would also be quite at home on New Zealand routes.

1460 and 1502 Class DELs

The Clyde Engineering 1460 class were ordered by QR in 1964, and worked mainly around Brisbane and the South-East. They were primarily freight locomotives, and the later members of the class were fitted with dynamic brakes. In 1967, Clyde moved to the more powerful EMD 12-645E engine, and locomotives thus fitted became the 1502 Class. These more powerful (but externally almost identical) locomotives were used on suburban passenger trains, as well as freight services alongside the 1460s.

In 1995, the surviving members of the 1460 Class were sold en masse to New Zealand, and the only example now remaining in Queensland is the preserved 1461 'Centennial', which (along with 1281 'Century') was painted in a gold livery to celebrate QR's centenary in 1965.

The 1502 Class remained in service until 1999, when they were withdrawn and stored at Redbank. Many of these locomotives have been fitted with new cabs, generators and bogies and reborn as the Interail 423 Class, and it is likely that more of the stored locomotives will get the same treatment.
