James Holden, of the Great Eastern Railway, introduced these tank locos as class R24. After being rebuilt with 180psi boilers, Westinghouse brakes and large side tanks, these locos, along with the identical S56 class, were classified as LNER J69/1 at the time of the Big Four grouping. This loco represents a rebuilt R24, still in GER colours, as preserved at the National Railway Museum in York. A big thank you goes to Paul Hobbs for his excellent tutorials and for his Terrier interior and all the guys at UKBL for their help and encouragement.
