This is a model of a typical Victorian Railways large (12' x 20' - 3.66 x 6.1 meters) Van-Goods Shed, which were used at multiple locations throughout the system for the sole purpose of transferring and temporarily storing commodities, known within 'the Department' as Van Goods. Almost from the very beginning and right up until about the middle of the 1980s decade (when Goods Vans were finally abolished from the rear of Goods/Freight trains), it was common practise for small items (capable of being lifted by one or two men), to be 'carried' (as a 'Common Carrier') by the VR, in a special compartment of the Vans on Goods/Freight trains (and sometimes in the Guard's Vans of Passenger Trains). These goods would be off loaded on the platforms at wayside stations and be stored, until collected by their rightful owners, in sheds such as this model. In consequence of this, these assets are designed to be 'mounted' on a platform and have been created with the doors at a suitable height above ground to accomodate this. That notwithstanding, a full depth foundation has been provided with the model to allow it to be located towards the rear of a platform (their 'typical' placement) where access for a road vehicle (with a tray at the door level) would be required to transfer the goods and the asset has been provided with a variation of -5 to +5 for the 'height-range' tag, allowing it some flexibility in height adjustment for alternative 'placements'. This version of the model has been textured to represent a shed painted in the full version of the VR Cream and Chocolate paint scheme, making it suitable for use in routes dated prior to WWWII. Please note, this is a 'static' model, and is intended for use in Trainz versions TS2009 or later.
