Built by Vulcan Foundry in Newton-le-Willows, 1895, the Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford Railway bought four engines for mainline passenger work between Dublin and Wexford. The engines were however very bad steamers and after the company renamed itself as the Dublin and South Eastern Railway, they were given Belpaire boilers between 1906 and 1923.
