After WW II sixty J class locomotives were ordered from the Vulcan Foundry in England and delivered in 1954.
The first thirty were coal burners and the second thirty were oil burners.
Scrapping started in 1967 and the last saw service in 1979. Several have been preserved.
Running numbers for the oil burners were 530 - 559
