This beast was constructed as a Heavy Testing Vehicle and might have been employed in testing the haulage power of locos.

The HTV had two 3cyl diesel gen sets in it to run the computers and the fuel tank was filled with water for ballast and it had no donk in it or traction motors left in place.

It was built out of two retired 47 class locomoptives (ex 4719+4715's cab) HTV2000 was made to substitute for DMC1902 when heavy loads were expected as these would be over DMC's drawbar limit.

It is has now been used as a source of spare parst to keep the Lachlan Vally Railwys other 47's in service and is derlict at the Cowra Locomotive depot
