Fairbanks-Morse Erie-built A-unit, phase II. FM's uesd an opposed-piston Diesel engine. Made in 1945, had 2000hp. The Milwaukee road orderd 5 sets of A-B-A in 1947, the first 4 sets where phase II and the last phase III. This is the first 8 A units as they looked under UP. Numbers for A units 5A,6A,7A,8A,10A,11A.11B and 12A.
