The sound of the Wood Pigeon with another flying away in background. The New Zealand native wood pigeon is found in the North and South Islands. It is a noisy flier and at times land clumsily onto the tree branches. Their diet consists mainly of fruit from the native trees but do have a liking for the leaves of the introduced plum tree.
