Southern Railway bought 100 SD35's (#3000-3099) in 1965-66 plus ten for Central of Georgia (#215-224) in January of 1966. All had high noses and ran long hood forward. With 110 units, Southern was the largest user of the SD35 with almost 1/3 of the units built.
